Mengingat untuk menyelaraskan diri

“When you have finished your prayer, remember God – standing, and sitting, and lying down; and when you are once again secure, observe your prayers. Truly, for all the faithful prayer is a sacred duty joined to particular times.” QS 4:103, dari The Light of Dawn: Daily Readings from the Holy Qur’an.

The promise of God – never does God deviate from His promise;
but most people don’t understand.
They know only the external in the life of this world;
don’t they ever reflect within their own mind?
Only for just ends and for a determined time did God create the heavens and the earth and all between them;
Yet there are truly many among human kind who deny the meeting with their Sustainer!
Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the end of those before them?
They were superior to them in strength;
They tilled the soil and populated it more extensively than these have done;
There came to them their messengers with clear signs.
It was not God who wronged them but they who wronged their own souls.
[QS 30:6-9]

Menyimak Yaa Siin

Semalam menghadiri 1000 harian saudara.

Show me how to read Qur’an

IMG_0133“What is the idea that the world to needs to know? What is that core idea that is fresh and unique to you?” That questions just refused to left me. I first heard it when I was watching Chris Anderson’s talk at TED about what makes a great talk, great. I have been pondering about them since then. On and off, of course.

The other night that questions came up again. So I posed them as a question to myself. I waited for a response. It came in the form of a distant memory: of me sitting before the Ka’baah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, in 2003, asking God for a favor, “Show me how to read the Qur’an. Because I don’t believe that God who is The Compassionate, The Merciful, is as strict and vengeful as they say You are.”
